One of the things that is really notable about Moscow and yet not many people outside Russia know about, is how gorgeous the Moscow metro is.
These photos? That’s what the metro stations look like.
They’re called the “People’s palaces of Moscow” or else “Underground palaces,” and they were built during the Soviet era on the Communist idea that art and beauty should belong to the people rather than only being available in the houses of nobles.
These photos show just some of the metro’s attractions. There are many more mosaics, statues, etc, placed throughout.
And the metro is always this clean.
In addition to being beautiful, it is incredibly functional. It gets you pretty much everywhere in Moscow, and the trains run at intervals of every three minutes or less. At peak times, they run every 90 seconds. You never have to worry about missing a train, because the next one will come almost immediately.
Not always of course. In the late evening or early morning hours, you may have to wait as long as five whole minutes for a train. They’re also super easy to navigate.
We Russians are pretty proud of our metro system.
clothes mods for games are a good idea in theory but in practice the kind of nerds who programme mods don’t know shit about fashion
So, there’s this girl. She’s tragically orphaned and richer than anyone on the planet. Every guy she meets falls in love with her, but in between torrid romances she rejects them all because she dedicated to what is Pure and Good. She has genius level intellect, Olympic-athelete level athletic ability and incredible good looks. She is consumed by terrible angst, but this only makes guys want her more. She has no superhuman abilities, yet she is more competent than her superhuman friends and defeats superhumans with ease. She has unshakably loyal friends and allies, despite the fact she treats them pretty badly. They fear and respect her, and defer to her orders. Everyone is obsessed with her, even her enemies are attracted to her. She can plan ahead for anything and she’s generally right with any conclusion she makes. People who defy her are inevitably wrong.
God, what a Mary Sue.
I just described Batman."

What are some games that stand out in your memory as having creative (or particularly frightening) deaths? I mean things like environmental traps or interesting monsters that kill the player.
I’ve got a no-combat horror project sort of brewing in my head and I want to do some research on effective traps and scares.
Any suggestion you think might apply are welcome. Doesn’t have to be from a horror game.
Heart of Darkness has a lot of different ways of dying (falling, enemies, traps, etc): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYyZfME5XYY
YES I was waiting for someone to mention Heart of Darkness. I played this game when I was very young because it somehow got an E rating, and it freaked me out on such a deep level. It’s been a huge influence on the way I think about games.
Same thing with Oddworld, but Heart of Darkness stands out more to me, probably because I never managed to finish Oddworld when I was younger.
The same thing happened to me. My dad bought it as a gift and I never managed to finish it because it was traumatizing as hell. He also bought Cyberia and other games that were way too scary for me :’( (I never played Oddworld thought)
